GUNS OF THE WEST: VOLUME II
124 Page Print Magazine
Edition of 50 Hand Bound Copies
Edition of 50 Hand Bound Copies
Resilience amongst changing landscapes in art and fashion is the focus of Guns of The West.
This issue focuses on tangible, sustainable practices and the identities of practitioners who go beyond the typically accepted ways of working. From Rachael Louise Bailey’s use of found wool to Lennard Zinn’s hand-shaped bolo ties, Guns of The West tells the story of those whose practices are self-defined and ever-adapting.
As Cowboys once attempted to survive the unforgiving frontier of the American West, these individuals and practices are now required to navigate through times of economic instability, environmental degradation, and harmful technologies. Throughout this magazine, symbols like the Cowboy, the Longhorn, and the open landscape of our world tie together the work of these artists and their place within the spirit of the West, despite most of them practicing in London.
This magazine is a testament to the challenges of our present moment and how embracing tradition, sustainability, and one's own identity can help us persevere. Just as the Longhorn grew its massive horns to increase its chance of survival in the American West’s arid climate, the practices documented are constantly adapting to our current moment, to be remembered for their unique visual and cultural impact.
